White Cliff (2017)
280 mm x 380 mm pastel painting
This particular cliff lies between Ramsgate and Broadstairs, on the East Kent coast. I regularly walk my dog along the beach at low tide, constantly studying the layers, textures, and unique light along these cliffs.
The chalk is anything but white, posing quite a challenge to work in a blend of subtle tonal tints into something that feels solid, and bright on a sunny autumn day.
This piece is worked with soft pastels on a specially developed archive quality pastel base.
This pastel will be supplied flat, unframed, and you should take this to your framer to have it carefully sealed into an appropriately structured frame.
